Product Description

Thank you for your interest in our workspace, which includes Hot Desks, free wifi, food and drinks.

Situated just inside the City walls, The Chopping Block is an Anglo-French restaurant set above a traditional Ale House – all in a 17th Century Grade ll Listed building. Our Chef/Proprietor, Michael Hjort, worked for some time as Michel Roux Jr’s Sous Chef & uses his experience to influence our menu. Our focus is homemade French inspired dishes, created using Yorkshire produce wherever possible & served in our relaxing, informal restaurant.

Our dishes are created and developed by our talented kitchen team, then tried & tested by our staff to guarantee real flavour & quality!

The Ale House is our traditional downstairs bar, where we source locally produced cask & keg beers. We support many local breweries & pride ourselves on our selection of craft cask, keg, cans & bottles. We also serve an extensive list of homemade Bar Snacks, which are available alongside our Restaurant Menu (click here for Menus).

OUR BUILDING
We are in a 17th century listed building in the centre of York…along with great food, there’s lots of history and a few ghost stories!

Despite the narrow frontage (typical of buildings in central York), the building is surprisingly large occupying the three floors of an historical rope makers and saddlers shop.

PARTIES
This range of diverse rooms both large and intimate, makes us ideal for Parties.

Especially in our Loft – seating up to 50 guests!
